Pumpkins

This morning my mom dropped off two carving kits and $15 to buy some pumpkins. I think she's worried my children are deprived because I'm not inclined to festivity (you know, yard or front door decorations, pumpkin earrings, Christmas lights, Christmas sweaters, easter egg coloring) not to her standards anyway. But she's right, if she hadn't given me the nudge, there would've been no pumpkins.

Just seeing the words "pumpkin earrings" and "Christmas sweater" made me shudder. Ugh.

I do like pumpkin carving and egg dyeing, however; I just tend to be a last-minute festivity kind of girl. We don't have our official carving pumpkins yet. Maybe tomorrow.

I love your mom. We have pumpkins on our porch but only because someone gave them to us. If we ever get around to carving them is a whole other story. I hope you have a fun Halloween! We wish you were here!

ann, i of course hear you on the porch decorating or earrings and sweaters which are just comedy, but i'm dying to know what you have against the old traditions like eggs and pumpkins? you must have done it as a child, if your mother is bringing them over-- were they bad memories?
