Some Befores and Afters

Thanks to the most generous of benefactors, we've been able to do some much needed work on our house. Let's be honest, it was becoming quite the eye sore: the paint was peeling and fading (thanks a lot moron house flippers who never put down a primer!), the fascia was rotting and falling off in chunks, and the roof, which we were told was new when we bought it, turned out to be a neighborhood service project a few years back. That would explain the missing fire and ice paper, the lack of rain drips, etc. Awesome. Anyway, here is our new and improved house, and yes, it's still purple. Get over it already, best intentioned, neighborhood busy body lady, I love the purple. Plum, if you will.
I told Mark I wanted to build a berm in the front yard. He thought I was making it up. A berm? He'd never heard of such a thing. It took me a week to pull out the grass. My fingernails were constantly full of dirt. And then it took us 12 hours on a Saturday and a borrowed truck from a friend to build it.

Have you ever seen such a lovely berm in your entire life?

A picture of the house after the roof and fascia and berm, but before the paint job.

George and Duane, remember how awful the dry rot was before? All better.

The new and improved and still purple house.

I love that you live in a purple house.

And that IS a beautiful berm.

Okay, I noticed you had painted it, and I love the berm. And I love that you kept it purple. The purple makes it easy for people to find!

P.S. I wonder if the same neighbor lady was the same one who said stuff to us (well intentioned, of course) about our house.
