So, I decided on a wall color before the baby's name: martini olive. It was a lot easier. And I'm narrowing in on room ideas. No offense against cars and trucks, sailboats and giraffes, but I wanted to do something a little more....neutral. I like to go easy on the themes anyway, I'm a simple girl, so I'm thinking a natural theme with birds. Here are some ideas. Now whether or not I can pull it off is another question entirely.

Ignore everything but the walls. Love them. And I think I'm going to attempt to paint my own tree silhouette.

I love this bird mobile. Can I pull it off? It's very questionable.
Love these pillows and the color scheme: olive, chocolate brown and orange.

These are paintings made from paper. Love the idea, but I think I need some more masculine birds. What do you think?

you're onto something lovely!
i made my own bird mobile last year (did you see the post?) and it was ridiculously hard to get balanced. but possible! go for it! and be sure to post your results!
p.s. the mobile was on sept. 14, 2009
VERY nice! I love it all. Great, great ideas! I think you could do the paper painting things, only use the birds from the pillows that you like. Or something like them. :) I can't wait to see what you come up with.
... and you try to say your not crafty! HA!
By the way... I'm turning on your blog to listen to the music while I clean my kitchen. :)
I love the birds and the orange and brown (I actually did a Christmas card years ago with those colors)! The countdown is on!!
If the sticks you gathered were for this project, you should talk to Kara Arnold for tips or consult her blog. She did this for her daughter's bedroom, and it turned out really cute!
I did the bird mobile for C's room...and even though my sewing skills are meager, it turned out pretty OK. And I got a HUGE vinyl tree decal for the wall. Just because we're renting and I didn't want to paint. Love the orange and brown; can't wait to see how it turns out!
is there a dead hanging bird there at the bottom of the mobile? emi is worried it got knocked off it's stick :)
I'm into this bird nursery idea, Ann. I think the way you want to go with the birds is fat. As in fat, happy, adorable baby birds. Color scheme is great; it's something he can grow into, not out of.
But please explain to me why you and Mark haven't picked out Baby's name from a nineteenth-century Russian novel yet.
i love the colors and bird theme. i don't know what i'd do if i was having a baby, but i like the idea of keeping the themey-ness to a minimum. that's not my thing either. but you can never go wrong with birds. and if you do make the mobile, let me know. i'd love to make one (or buy one from you) too.
hey where are the footballs, baseballs, and basketballs?????
