"There's just no accounting for happiness, or the way it turns up like a prodigal who comes back to the dust at your feet having squandered a fortune far away." (Jane Kenyon)

Disneyland 2011

We just spent three sticky, exhausting, gloriouslylong days at Disneyland. Three days of Space Mountain and Pirates of the Carribean (probably the favorites), cups of frozen lemonade to beat the Anaheim heat, sunburns on our unacclimated skin, blistered feet, contraband crackers and turkey jerky, tears upon entry and exit. All of which took us three years of pinching pennies and working extra hours of catering, all that planning, the drive. I'm not a Disney fanatic, I don't own a single item of Mickey paraphonelia, but I love that Disneyland gives us three days of undiluted, undistracted time together, engaged in the same thing, busy, contented, and at times swept up in a pure, singular delight.

Rainforest Cafe to celebrate our first night
Declan, enchanted with the moving animals and thunderstorms
My Mom, always adoringly surrounded on all sides
Eleanor and Ada, ecstatic after their first ride, Thunder Mountain
Charlotte, maybe a little too much too fastThe girls on the tea cups
Best baby at Disneyland ever
Finally something he can do
Our pretty 7-yr-old on Dumbo
He didn't miss a thing
Neither did she. Hands up and squealing on Space Mountain six times.
Some of my favorite moments were spent watching him watching everything else.

We played hard and slept hard. Mornings were tough.
Best Grandma ever. She went on the rides Mark and I couldn't.
Charlotte bummed out that she was two inches too short for the upside down coaster. Bummer.
Our favorite spot to wait: shade, bench and water with ducks.
Because they wanted to. Because you feel like you have to. The girls, Declan, Baba and the 7-month pregnant toad.
Mark and I missed the boat.
After Alice.
Ada (7), Eleanor (9), Declan (1), Charlotte (5)

Priceless.
Priceless again.
Wet.The spectators.
Family of six.

So sad it's over.
We'll be back, girls, I promise.

FUN! I love Disneyland so much, and because I lived only three miles from it for 15 years of my life, it is in my blood (as well as the beach, like in your other post).

It is such a great vacation for families, and such a great place to be able to really interact for long periods of time with your children.

We are going in less than a week and I really think I am more excited about it than my children are. And that's saying something because they squeal with delight/excitement/glee when I tell them how many more days til we go!

I love all the pictures of you guys!
