"There's just no accounting for happiness, or the way it turns up like a prodigal who comes back to the dust at your feet having squandered a fortune far away." (Jane Kenyon)

Party Food

I threw a little birthday party for Mark the other day--cleaned the house, curled my hair, invited some of his favorite colleagues over, filled the candy bowls with Peanut MnMs and Swedish Fish, and turned up Sinatra. It was the first time I made him blow out candles and stand all uncomfortable and be sung to. I really, really like everyone who came, especially considering that two years ago we were virtually friendless. These are good, fun, smarty-pants people; we're lucky folks. There are no party pictures, I'm a lousy multi-tasker, but here's some shots of dessert: White Chocolate Red Berry TrifleOakie Cake with Toasted Cinnamon-Sugared PecansCookie Ice Cream Sandwiches
