"There's just no accounting for happiness, or the way it turns up like a prodigal who comes back to the dust at your feet having squandered a fortune far away." (Jane Kenyon)
There are so many ways I hope he takes after him. I hope he gets his hair, his hands, his eyelashes. I hope he gets his ability to bring down a room or a quiet person in laughter, his intensity, his intelligence, his curiosity, his artist's soul, his impressive bullshit radar. Like his daddy, I hope he's fiercely protective of those he loves, friendly and helpful to strangers, spontaneous with children, constantly in a book, and can clean the floor like nobody's business. He'd be a lucky man to be just like his daddy.

Ann, I'm sorry to barge in after ten years, or so. Joanna and Janelle mentioned your blog at our sisters' weekend in April. Since then I've been admiring your photog skills and thoughtful writing. Now I'm impressed that on your fifth pregnancy, you're still living in a Ramen-free zone. (I'm two years in.)
Anyway, I wanted to wish you the best with the new baby and everything. I hope today's a good pregnancy day. Do you know if you're having a boy or girl?
Say hello to Mark. You guys have a beautiful family! And you have a standing invite to our house anytime you want, even if you end up with triplets.
